Advisory Services
When the facts are clear, we and our partners provide communication about education, energy, gender integration and environmental and social efficacy of infrastructure. We provide a well-tested approach for building people’s participation and collective power that helps to transform initiatives and programs.
Negotiation with decision makers in the public and private sectors, crafting proposals, testifying before government agencies, making presentations at conferences, and utilizing print, electronic and video media to impact public opinion are among the strategies and tactics used to achieve our clients’ goals.
Convening
We bring policy makers and experts together to develop solutions that are driven by facts, and conduct reporting and in-depth research using evidence to determine which policies work and which do not. Authors of white papers present their work as a starting point for participants to discuss with each other the implications of the papers. Participants share their experiences, broaden their knowledge, evaluate the impact of reforms, and learn about innovative practices inside and outside their region. As a group, participants are positioned to tap their latent energy, resources and intelligence, to generate novel solutions and innovations that no one participant could achieve individually.
Leadership Development
We consult with representatives from marginalized groups to design programs that advance political inclusion. Using a process based on a firm research foundation to develop participants’ essential skills, we provide language, measurement and development capability to improve leadership behaviors. BMI works with media, the private sector, elected officials, and government institutions to better understand the social challenges marginalized groups face. Equipped with an understanding of the needs and desires expressed by these groups, BMI provides the logistical and technical training necessary to present their views. We identify in-country partners and seek out the hardest-to-reach groups and communities.
Because those who are most affected by the challenges of exclusion usually have the best perspective on what solutions will work for them, we listen to our partners and tailor training and technical assistance programs for them.
Planning
We design high impact strategies – for large projects, executive boards and partnerships - and translate information for multiple audiences, including academics, and the media to raise awareness, and inform decision-making. When public sector partners require new innovations to address serious problems, BMI identifies capable partners to develop new solutions. Our demonstration projects allow government officials to get buy-in from stakeholders before applying the solutions to a large government system.
Technical Assistance
We provide non-partisan reporting and research techniques to help states deliver better results and achieve beneficial long-term improvements. BMI performs program analyses for opinion leader’s consideration. And we advise opinion leaders and the heads of executive agencies about ways to make government more efficient, effective, ethical and responsive.
